Field Technician

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 1. Concrete Sampling & Testing Collect concrete samples from production batches at the plant and job sites. Conduct standard tests on fresh and hardened concrete, including: Slump test Air content test Temperature measurement Unit weight test Cube/cylinder casting and compressive strength testing Ensure that test results comply with IS codes (e.g., IS 456, IS 1199, IS 516) and customer specifications. 2. Mix Design Verification & Adjustments Assist in the verification of concrete mix designs. Monitor concrete performance at job sites and recommend mix adjustments when necessary. Ensure that raw materials (cement, aggregates, admixtures) meet required specifications. 3. Site & Plant Inspection Inspect batching plants for proper calibration and operational efficiency. Verify that raw materials are stored correctly and are free from contamination. Monitor transit mixers to ensure proper mixing and transportation of concrete. 4. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate records of test results, mix designs, and quality reports. Prepare and submit daily field reports and test logs to the Quality Control Manager. Communicate with customers, site engineers, and plant operators regarding quality concerns. 5. Troubleshooting & Customer Support Identify and resolve concrete quality issues at sites and plants. Provide technical assistance to customers regarding concrete handling, curing, and placement. Address complaints related to concrete quality and suggest corrective actions. 6. Compliance & Safety Follow safety guidelines while handling concrete and testing equipment. Ensure compliance with IS standards, company policies, and environmental regulations. Qualifications & Experience: Education: Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Experience: 1-3 years of experience in quality control/testing in the ready-mix concrete or construction industry. Skills: Knowledge of IS codes related to concrete testing and quality control. Proficiency in using concrete testing equipment. Basic understanding of mix design principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Work Conditions: Field-based role requiring travel to multiple sites and plants. Physical work involving lifting and handling of testing materials. Exposure to outdoor conditions and construction environments.
