Fellowship in Fetal Medicine

The Fellowship in Fetal Medicine is an advanced hospital-based clinical training program designed to develop skilled specialists capable of managing high-risk pregnancies and complex fetal conditions through advanced prenatal diagnostics and multidisciplinary care.

The fellowship offers structured, hands-on exposure to fetal imaging, prenatal screening, invasive diagnostic procedures, and high-risk obstetric management under the supervision of experienced fetal medicine consultants.

This program aims to build strong clinical judgment, diagnostic accuracy, procedural competence, and confidence in managing complex maternal fetal cases in tertiary care settings.

Role & responsibilities:

• Manage high-risk pregnancies and fetal medicine cases under the guidance of senior fetal medicine specialists
• Perform and interpret routine and advanced obstetric ultrasound examinations, including anomaly scans and Doppler studies
• Assist in prenatal screening, fetal growth assessment, and monitoring of maternalfetal well-being
• Participate in invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (as per training scope)
• Provide clinical support in the evaluation and management of fetal anomalies and complex obstetric conditions
• Participate in daily clinical rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary meetings involving obstetrics, neonatology, genetics, and radiology teams
• Counsel expectant parents regarding prenatal findings, risk assessment, and management options under supervision
• Maintain accurate patient records, ultrasound logs, case documentation, and procedural records
• Participate in academic sessions, case presentations, evidence-based learning, and research discussions
• Attend hands-on workshops, simulation training, and skill-development sessions related to fetal imaging and diagnostics
• Ensure strict adherence to patient safety protocols, ethical standards, and infection control guidelines

Preferred candidate profile:

• MS / DNB in Obstetrics & Gynecology (mandatory)
• Candidates with prior exposure to high-risk obstetrics, prenatal ultrasound, or fetal medicine preferred
• Strong interest in fetal medicine, prenatal diagnostics, and advanced obstetric care
• Ability to work in high-responsibility clinical environments involving complex decision-making
• Willingness to learn and apply advanced fetal imaging and diagnostic techniques
• Good communication skills, especially for patient counseling and multidisciplinary coordination
• Ability to work collaboratively with obstetricians, radiologists, neonatologists, geneticists, and nursing teams
• Commitment to hands-on clinical training, academic participation, and continuous professional development
