Job Description

The Fellowship in Arthroscopy (Hospital-Based) is an advanced clinical training program designed to develop skilled orthopedic surgeons capable of performing and assisting in a wide range of arthroscopic procedures involving joints such as the knee, shoulder, and other major limb joints.

The fellowship offers structured, hands-on exposure to minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, operative decision-making, perioperative patient care, and multidisciplinary clinical practice under the supervision of senior orthopedic and sports medicine consultants. Fellows will develop strong procedural competence, surgical judgement, and confidence in managing complex arthroscopic cases.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Assist and participate in arthroscopic surgical procedures across major joints such as knee, shoulder, ankle, and hip under expert guidance
  • Perform diagnostic arthroscopy and therapeutic interventions including ACL, PCL, meniscus, and rotator cuff repairs
  • Participate in daily clinical rounds, pre-operative planning, and post-operative care
  • Support outpatient clinics assessing musculoskeletal conditions and identifying candidates for arthroscopy
  • Assist in advanced arthroscopic techniques, graft harvesting, suture configuration, and internal bracing procedures under supervision
  • Monitor surgical outcomes, document findings, and contribute to clinical records and case logs
  • Participate in academic sessions such as case discussions, journal clubs, morbidity and mortality meetings, and skill workshops
  • Attend simulation-based training and workshops to refine arthroscopic handling and instrument skills
  • Ensure compliance with patient safety protocols, sterile practices, and ethical clinical standards
  • Engage in evidence-based learning and contribute to research or clinical audit projects
  • Assist in post-surgery rehabilitation protocols and collaborate with physiotherapy teams for optimal patient recovery

Preferred candidate profile:

  • MS / DNB in Orthopaedics (mandatory)
  • Candidates with prior exposure to arthroscopy or sports medicine preferred
  • Strong interest in minimally invasive orthopedic surgery and procedural learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity clinical surgical environment
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and fundamental surgical skills
  • Good clinical judgment, decision-making under supervision, and willingness to learn advanced techniques
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, physiotherapists, and senior surgeons
  • Commitment to professionalism, ethical care, and patient safety
  • Willingness to participate in hands-on training, academic discussions, and continuous professional development
