Overview
We are looking for a Fault Analysis & Defect Ticketing Engineer
with strong experience in analyzing automotive communication logs, interpreting diagnostic traces, identifying system/software issues, and creating high-quality defect tickets. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with CANoe, esoTrace, and diagnostic tools used in automotive E/E development.
This role is critical in supporting development teams by providing detailed pre-analysis, structured documentation, and precise debugging insights.
Key Responsibilities
1. Log & Trace Analysis

Analyze CAN, LIN, Ethernet, DoIP
, and diagnostic traces from HiL systems, development benches, or test vehicles.

Interpret logs using tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, esoTrace, INCA
, or proprietary loggers.

Identify anomalies, protocol violations, unexpected ECU behaviors, and communication deviations.
-
Evaluate timing patterns, bus load, signal behavior, and timestamp alignment.
2. Fault Identification & Debugging
-
Perform root-cause pre-analysis
by isolating events, signals, and communication sequences.
-
Detect issues such as timeouts, communication drops, incorrect diagnostic responses, or SW crashes.

Reproduce reported issues in controlled setups when required.

Work closely with development teams to identify root causes across ECU software, hardware, or network configurations.
3. Ticket Creation & Error Reporting
-
Create high-quality, structured defect tickets
in Jira or KPM with logs, context, reproduction steps, and detailed analysis.

Clearly describe expected vs. actual behavior and attach relevant trace segments.

Ensure correct categorization, severity assignment, and owner allocation.
-
Track defects through closure and support developers with retesting.
4. Test Incident Documentation

Document incidents, anomalies, and unexpected behavior with well-structured evidence.

Maintain traceability between issues, test cases, and execution results.

Prepare summary reports for recurring failures, stability issues, or critical bugs.
5. Support for Debug Sessions
-
Participate in debugging sessions with developers and system engineers.

Provide filtered logs, event timelines, and analysis insights.

Perform validation tests after software fixes or integration updates.
Technical Skills (Advanced)
Log & Trace Analysis
Debugging & Diagnostics

Strong knowledge of UDS (ISO 14229), OBD
, event memory, and diagnostic flows.

Experience isolating communication failures, timing issues, and protocol errors.

Understanding of ECU architecture, communication stacks, and software state machines.
Ticketing & Process Tools

Proficient in Jira, KPM
, or similar defect management systems.

Understanding of severity definitions, quality gates, and ticket workflows.

Ability to write clear, actionable, high-quality defect tickets

Supporting Tools

Basic scripting skills (Python, CAPL, Excel macros) for filtering or formatting logs.

Familiarity with INCA, MATLAB
, or log-parsing tools is advantageous.
Automotive Knowledge

Understanding of E/E architectures, network configurations, and ECU interactions.

Experience with ASPICE-compliant defect management processes
is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor s/Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering
, or related fields.

of experience in log analysis, debugging, automotive diagnostics, or E/E testing.

Hands-on experience with CANoe or diagnostic/log analysis tools.
-
Experience in automotive R&D, testing, or validation is highly preferred.
