Job Description

Lab Assistant Fashion Design Department

Experience

Min 3 years
Previous experience working in a fashion design studio, garment production facility, or educational environment is preferred.
Knowledge of garment construction techniques, pattern making, draping, and sewing machine operation.

Qualification

Full-time Diploma after 10th or 12th from Recognized ITI/ NSTI / IDTR/ IGTR in Machinist/ Mechanic Machine Tools Maintenance / Technician Mechatronics / Textile Mechatronics.

OR

Full time six months NCVT certificate in Industrial Sewing Machine Technician Diploma / Polytechnic in Fashion Design.

Key Responsibilities:

Material & Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment including sewing machines, specialized machines, dress forms, and other tools.
Coordinate repairs and maintenance with external vendors as needed to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
Manage inventory of machines, tools & other lab infrastructure.
Lab Operations:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the fashion lab, including scheduling, cleanliness, and organization of workspaces.
Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Administrative Tasks:
Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping and procurement of supplies for the fashion lab.
Contribute to the development of lab policies, procedures, and curriculum to support the college's educational objectives.
