As an Organic Farmer Engagement Specialist, your role involves identifying and onboarding certified organic farmers and FPOs for key fruit and vegetable categories. You will be responsible for verifying organic certifications, ensuring documentation validity, and building long-term trust-based relationships with farmer groups to ensure consistent supply and mutual growth. Working closely with quality and compliance teams, you will audit and validate farming practices regularly. Your role also includes coordinating procurement planning based on store/e-commerce demand and seasonality and assisting farmers with post-harvest handling, grading, packing, and logistics coordination. Additionally, you will organize farmer workshops, provide training on organic practices, and enhance supply chain understanding. Regular visits to farms for maintaining field-level visibility and accountability, as well as maintaining a database of farmers' information, certification status, acreage, crop cycles, and contact points are essential. You will also play a crucial role in bridging communication between field teams, warehouse, and sales for smooth produce flow. Qualifications required for this role include a Bachelors degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agri-Business, or Rural Management, along with a minimum of 15 years of experience in organic farmer engagement or FPO sourcing. Knowledge of organic certification systems is a must, and a passion for sustainable farming and direct farm sourcing models is highly desirable. Fluency in regional languages, willingness to travel extensively to rural farm locations, and basic reporting skills via Excel/Google Sheets are also necessary for this position. Please note that this is a full-time role that requires in-person work at the specified location.
