Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will provide a full and comprehensive EHS support service to the Group, ensuring best practice and pragmatic approach is taken in order to contribute towards the achievement of business goals and to support the organisation in complying with Environmental,Health & Safety legal requirements.

The EHS Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations while promoting a culture of safety and sustainability on all sites. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to implement EHS policies, mitigate risks, and ensure the well-being of all employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. EHS Policy Implementation:

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures in alignment with

company standards and regulatory requirements.

• Conduct regular reviews of policies to ensure they remain current and effective.

2. Site Inspections & Audits:

• Perform routine site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance

with safety standards.

• Conduct internal EHS audits, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.

3. Risk Assessment & Control:

• Conduct risk assessments for all design & construction activities and develop

effective control measures.

• Review and approve method statements and risk assessments submitted by

contractors and subcontractors.

4. Training & Awareness:

• Deliver EHS training programs, toolbox talks, and induction sessions for employees

and contractors.

• Promote a culture of safety awareness and environmental stewardship among the

workforce.

5. Incident Management:

• Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and accidents to identify root causes

and recommend preventive measures.

• Prepare and submit detailed incident reports in line with company and regulatory

requirements.

6. Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay up-to-date with local and international EHS regulations and ensure site

compliance.

• Liaise with regulatory bodies and participate in audits or inspections as needed.

7. Environmental Management:

• Monitor and manage environmental impacts of construction activities, including waste

disposal, noise, and emissions.

• Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to minimize environmental impact.

8. Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, including inspection reports, training

logs, and incident records.

• Manage Planning Applications where necessary
• Prepare regular EHS performance reports for management review

Key Competencies:

• Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a

related field.

• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to construction.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage

employees at all levels.

• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management systems.
