Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and drive the complete mechanical design cycle of products, including concept generation, detailed design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing support.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, manufacturing, and vendor partners, to deliver cost-effective, reliable, and timely product designs.
Manage and mentor an engineering design team while ensuring alignment with project goals and schedules.
Contribute expertise in plastic, sheet metal, and die-casting part design for consumer and industrial-grade products.
Apply SolidWorks expertise for 3D modeling, design detailing, and validation.
Ensure product designs meet ruggedization requirements such as ingress protection, vibration, shock, and drop test compliance with international standards.
Work on designs optimized for thermal management, RF shielding, EMI/EMC shielding, and acoustic considerations (microphone and speaker integration).
Apply sound knowledge of molding, casting, machining processes, material selection, and tooling design to ensure design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) practices.
Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), DFMEA, and support environmental testing and product qualification activities.
Stay updated on industry standards and certification requirements to ensure compliance in product development.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in Audio-Video / Multimedia Consumer Products, IoT devices, security cameras, mobile phones, or rugged handheld devices.
Proven background in developing rugged, outdoor, long-life, cost-effective products.
Knowledge of rapid prototyping and agile product development methodologies.
Familiarity with graphic design tools and simulation software is an added advantage.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelors or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks is mandatory.
Strong problem-solving, leadership, and team coordination abilities.
Excellent understanding of DFM, DFA, and product lifecycle management.
