Role & Responsibilities

Engineering Team Leader Gurgaon Location

Responsibilities include:

• Lead teams of engineers to produce clear, concise deliverables appropriate for the intended audience, including general-arrangement drawings, pipeline plans, sections, details, supporting calculations, material selection, specifications, schedules, and reports.
  
• Ensure compliance with in-house procedural and quality systems, providing technical guidance and supervision to project teams.
  
• Contribute to and support remote teams, fostering effective collaboration across locations.
  
• Lead project planning and execution, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements, and managing transitions between design, delivery, and operational phases.
  
• Manage design interfaces across disciplines and integrate all design elements into the overall project design.
  
• Work closely with project teams, other engineering disciplines, Project/Engineering Managers, CAD teams, joint-venture partners, and clients.
  
• Define and manage design budgets, schedules, and quality requirements for engineering teams.
  
• Undertake technical bid assessments, review subcontractor designs, and provide technical support to site teams.
  
• Identify resource and skill requirements, recruit and allocate team members within budget, and foster a high-performing engineering team through mentoring and capability development.
  
• Promote safety, buildability, and operability within engineering design and delivery to ensure technically sound, cost-effective solutions aligned with client objectives.
  
• Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing by embedding best practices and lessons learned across teams and projects.
  
• Oversee risk-management processes to ensure strategic and operational risks are identified, assessed, prioritised, and effectively mitigated throughout all project stages.
  

Person Specification

The role is suitable for technically strong, commercially aware candidates with a background in the water industry or closely related sectors. Candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and knowledge:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognised accredited programme in your home country or the country of practice.
  
• Typically a minimum of 13 years’ related work experience.
  
• Experience in clean water and wastewater treatment works design, including pumped and gravity hydraulic design, plant layout, and a working knowledge of interdisciplinary requirements. Ability to lead the development of all engineering aspects within a 3D model environment and oversee preparation of general arrangements and layouts.
  
• Ability to monitor, record, quantify change, and assist in risk management.
  
• Knowledge of water/wastewater process design, key components, testing and commissioning practices, procurement and construction processes, relevant codes and practices, including UK health and safety legislation (CDM), planning processes, and document control.
  
• Delivery-driven, able to work with minimal supervision, set targets, manage, and lead a growing engineering team to deliver all aspects of engineering—from outline and detailed design to integration and acceptance of third-party designs and provision of construction support.
  
• Strong ownership of tasks, with initiative and sound judgement to deliver efficient engineering solutions.
  
• Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to build rapport and interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  
• Team-oriented with excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  
• Experience within the UK water industry is advantageous and considered beneficial.
