Engineering Manager, Infrastructure Platform

In this role at Agoda, you will be part of the Infrastructure Platform team in Bangkok, specifically focusing on scaling the Compute Platform based on Kubernetes. Your responsibilities will include driving operational excellence, implementing solid engineering practices, and making data-driven decisions. **Role Overview:** As an Engineering Manager (Compute) at Agoda, your role will involve leading by example, providing team leadership, shaping the platform's vision, conducting design and technical reviews, engaging in technical evangelism, and making data-driven decisions to guide project success and platform performance. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead by Example: Remain hands-on by writing and reviewing code, and provide expert-level coaching and guidance to engineers at all levels - Team Leadership: Manage and develop a high-performing Agile team of 5+ senior/lead software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment - Platform Vision: Drive research and development to continuously improve the infrastructure platform, setting a clear technical vision and roadmap - Design & Technical Reviews: Lead and participate in design reviews within the team and across the department, influencing technical direction at Agoda - Technical Evangelism: Stay at the forefront of technology, proactively sharing knowledge and best practices to elevate the entire organization - Data-Driven Decisions: Use metrics and scientific approaches to guide project success and platform performance **Qualifications Required:** - Proven Leadership: 2+ years experience as an engineering manager in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing Agile scrum teams with 5+ direct reports - Technical Expertise: Strong coding skills in a modern programming language (Golang preferred) - Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with large-scale compute/infrastructure platforms (Kubernetes, OpenStack, virtual machines, containers) - Reliability Focus: Deep understanding of platform stability, resilience, and observability - Quality Mindset: Experience working in CI/CD environments with a strong focus on testing and quality - Ownership & Autonomy: Ability to set OKRs/KPIs, make independent decisions, and take full ownership of outcomes - Excellent Communication: Self-motivated, approachable, and adaptable, with strong English communication skills **Additional Company Details:** Agoda is an online travel booking platform that connects travelers with a global network of 4.7M hotels and holiday properties worldwide, along with flights, activities, and more.
