Engineering Manager, Full Stack, YouTube Shopping

Role Overview: As a Software Engineering Manager at the company, your role goes beyond just Search. You will have the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, while also managing a team of Engineers. In addition to optimizing your own code, you will ensure that Engineers are able to optimize theirs. You will manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and help develop your team. Your teams will work in various areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, and user interface design. Operating with scale and speed, the exceptional software engineers are just getting started, and as a manager, you will guide the way. Key Responsibilities: - Set and communicate team priorities that support the organization's goals and align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams. - Set expectations with people aligned to the organization's goals, drive improvement by conducting performance discussions, offer feedback, and provide focused coaching for development. - Develop the technical goal and roadmap within the scope of the teams, evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs. - Design and guide systems designs within the scope and write product or system development code to solve problems. - Review code developed by other engineers, provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency). Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience. - 8 years of experience in software development. - 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects. - 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role. - Experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying full-stack systems. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in leading consumer apps (e.g., front-end and back-end). - Experience in developing and managing large-scale systems with availability and performance requirements. - Ability to lead through technical and organizational problems and driving collaborations in a distributed engineering organization.,
