Engineer - Laboratory

This position is responsible for metallurgical testing and chemical analysis of CI, SGI, raw material testing and testing of in-process sand parameters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To examine metal samples to determine microstructure, matrix & chemical properties for release to production Maintain records related to physical characteristics of metal Perform chemical analysis by using spectrometer Incoming inspection of materials as per standard procedure Green sand properties testing and corrective actions in sand plant Core shop material testing and analysis Maintain accurate record keeping for the traceability of all test results for future reference Maintain Lab QMS Documentation ·        Ability to operate Image analyser, Spectro meter ·        Manpower handling ·        Co-ordination with Production, Quality and Inspection departments ·        Shift handover/takeover ·        Shift performance analysis and reporting ·        Handling abnormal situations ·        Computer skills ·        Knowledge of  all parameters of incoming materials, chemical analysis ·        Knowledge of metallurgical aspects of grey iron, ductile iron, etc. ·        Understanding of all testing procedures, frequency of testing ·        Knowledge of all Measuring/testing instruments
