Description
As a Design Engineer in the R&D department located in Navi Mumbai, your primary responsibility will be to design and develop high precision gimbal systems. You will be tasked with generating comprehensive component specifications, defining selection criteria for key components, and testing and validating them for use in different sub-systems. Your innovative mechanical designs will play a crucial role in the engineering of equipment, systems, and components. Additionally, you will be expected to create a consistent design language/theme for all aspects of a product. To excel in this role, you will need to work with first principles to achieve the highest robustness and value addition of engineering solutions. By using standardized technology/process/tool choices, you will continuously improve reliability, predictability, and usability. Staying updated with the latest materials, manufacturing technologies, and methodologies is essential, as is establishing practices to deliver designs that are high-performance, reliable, scalable to manufacture, easy to maintain, and re-usable. Your growth in this position will be driven by your motivation to evolve as a senior contributor in engineering roles within the company. This progression will be based on your demonstrated performance and ability to deliver successful hardware products/components. A successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering and possess strong mechanical design instincts with a thorough understanding of complex electromechanical design. With at least 5 years of industry experience as a Design Engineer, you should have hands-on expertise in electromechanical assembly and integration, as well as a track record of executing hardware products/components successfully. Experience working with gimbals, EO/IR cameras, Motors, and other related components is crucial. Candidates who have worked in Indian or global companies delivering high-quality systems integrating mechanical hardware and electronics, or have studied at reputed academic institutions while demonstrating initiative and rigor in creating innovative engineering solutions, will be preferred. A deep appreciation for technology evolution and modern engineering practices is necessary, along with exposure to machining, injection molding, sheet metal, 3D-printing, and working knowledge of Creo Parametric Modeling and Surfacing. Experience with composite materials such as carbon, aramid, and glass is considered advantageous. Key Skills required for this role include Mechanical Assemblies, Parametric Design, Creo/SolidWorks, Hardware Development, Mechanics of Materials, Control Engineering, Packaging, Enclosure Design, and Structural Design and Analysis.
