Engineer- EOT Crane Maintenance

Role:

Job Purpose:

To manage and execute the maintenance and project operations related to EOT cranes (5T to 300T) at the Steel Melt Shop. The position is responsible for ensuring smooth crane functionality through timely preventive and breakdown maintenance, efficient job planning during daily operations and shutdowns, and supervising erection and commissioning activities. The goal is to achieve zero downtime, minimize breakdown frequency, and maintain safe working conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute daily, monthly, quarterly, yearly, and special shutdown maintenance activities.
• Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance to reduce equipment breakdowns and enhance operational availability.
• Attend to crane breakdowns and ensure quick restoration of services with minimum downtime.
• Lead erection and commissioning work of EOT cranes, ensuring timely and quality execution.
• Analyze breakdowns, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective and preventive measures.
• Plan and manage spares inventory to avoid downtime due to non-availability of materials.
• Monitor equipment performance parameters and generate reports for improvement actions.
• Handle shift operations independently and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Utilize SAP (MM module) for maintenance activity updates and material planning.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for job scheduling and execution.
• Manage team manpower effectively and ensure optimum utilization.

Knowledge & Skills (Technical & Safety):

• Sound knowledge of EOT crane maintenance standards and safety practices.
• Familiarity with SOP, SMP, RCA, MTBF, MTTR, and HIRA.
• Hands-on experience with 5S, QC tools, Kaizen, and preparing technical presentations.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and basic Pilog usage.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and team leadership skills.

The role supports smooth crane operations by ensuring timely maintenance, attending breakdowns, maintaining safety standards, and contributing to project-related tasks like erection and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance planning and execution.
• Carry out routine inspection and preventive maintenance of EOT cranes.
• Attend breakdowns promptly and assist in restoring equipment within minimal downtime.
• Assist in the erection and commissioning of cranes under supervision.
• Follow standard maintenance procedures (SMP) and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Update maintenance records and material consumption in SAP (MM module).
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for material arrangement and job planning.
• Assist in inventory checks and spares requirement planning.
• Ensure housekeeping and 5S implementation at the workplace.
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and suggest improvement actions.
• Prepare maintenance reports and support documentation tasks.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Basic knowledge of EOT crane functioning and maintenance.
• Familiarity with SOPs, SMPs, safety practices (HIRA), and maintenance metrics like MTTR/MTBF.
• Basic understanding of SAP MM, Pilog, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Awareness of 5S, Kaizen, and QC tools.
• Good communication skills and team coordination ability.
