Role & responsibilities

Lead overall plant maintenance activities.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Implement and ensure SOPs and protocols related to overall operation of power distribution across site.

2. Plan and coordinate the annual inspection of the entire electrical system, ensuring readiness for audits and regulatory compliance.

3. Manage certification and timely renewal license related to electrical operation.

4. Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, standards, and regulatory bodies, minimizing risk and ensuring safe operations.

5. Liaise with related statutory bodies.

6. Supervise operations and troubleshooting of electrical apparatus, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient motor control.

7. To review prepare spec for electrical equipments and during procurement implement the same.

8. Apply knowledge of the Indian Electricity Act, 2003, and related regulations, ensuring legal conformity across electrical systems and practices.

9. Lead the management of power generation and distribution systems, ensuring balanced loading, system health, and operational efficiency.

10. Select and approve electrical equipment for hazardous areas, ensuring safety certifications (Ex rated, ATEX) and compliance with zonal classifications.

11. Oversee control and automation systems, protection schemes, circuit breaker operations, and troubleshooting, supporting reliability and plant automation goals.

12. Manage the overall electrical system, including preventive and breakdown maintenance, root cause analysis, and continual improvement.

13. Analysis of technical details submitted by vendors and procure most suitable component.

14. Drive plant-wide energy management initiatives, optimizing energy use and promoting sustainable electrical practices.

15. Monitor and improve power quality parameters to protect equipment and improve efficiency.

16. Review, update, and maintain electrical drawings, SLDs, and documentation, supporting audits, maintenance, and project executions.

17. To ensure adherence of SOP in electrical operation, also to review and revise SOPs and SMPs.

18. Prepare and manage departmental budget.

19. Forecast power demand, and monitoring consumption pattern. Verification of energy bills.

20. Drive and implement changes under the Management of Change (MOC) process and commissioning of new electrical systems.

21. Supervise and ensure preventive and AMC-based maintenance of key electrical equipment including UPS systems, generators, elevators, EOT cranes, ensuring maximum uptime and system reliability.

22. Review and approve SOPs and SMPs for all electrical systems, ensuring technical accuracy, safety compliance, and standardization across the department.

23. Develop and implement Electrical Safety Management Plans (SMPs) in line with statutory norms and internal EHS protocols.

24. Conduct training programs for team members on electrical safety procedures, emergency handling, and safe equipment operation.

25. Utilize diagnostic tools such as thermography to assess electrical systems for hotspots, load imbalance, and potential failures, supporting predictive maintenance.

26. Monitor and maintain optimum Power Factor (PF) by regulating capacitor bank usage and load balancing, reducing energy penalties and improving efficiency.

27. Track daily and monthly power consumption, preparing detailed departmental energy reports for management review and cost control.

28. Verify DGVCL bills, ensure accuracy of electricity duty exemption, and coordinate DG generation duty submission in line with government regulations.

29. Lead energy management initiatives, identifying energy-saving opportunities and driving plant-wide energy conservation practices.

30. Monitor power quality parameters such as harmonics, voltage dips, and imbalance, and take corrective actions for system optimization and equipment protection.

31. Oversee the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical ensuring operational excellence.
