Job Description

Hi Connections,

performs diagnostic tests by placing electrodes on a patient's scalp to record and monitor the brain's electrical activity, helping to diagnose conditions like epilepsy and sleep disorders

Responsibilities

Patient preparation:
Explain the procedure to patients, answer questions, and position them comfortably for the test.
Equipment operation:
Set up and operate EEG equipment, ensuring electrodes are properly placed on the scalp to record brainwave activity.
Patient monitoring:
Observe the patient throughout the procedure to ensure their safety and comfort.
Data recording and analysis:
Record and adjust brainwave patterns, recognizing and identifying abnormalities or artifacts in the recordings.
Equipment maintenance:
Keep the EEG machine and accessories clean, calibrated, and in good working order.
Reporting:
Communicate with physicians regarding the test findings and report any concerns.
Record keeping:
Maintain thorough records of all performed procedures.

Qualifications

Education:
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Neurodiagnostics or a related field being common.
Certification:
Certification or registry eligibility by a body like ABRET is often required or preferred.
Skills:
Requires proficiency with EEG equipment and software, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Other:
CPR certification is often required.
