Position: Editorial Writing Intern (Travel & Food)

This internship offers a hands-on opportunity for an aspiring writer to immerse themselves in the world of South-Asian culture, food, and travel journalism.

The intern will be responsible for creating engaging, well-researched content, staying ahead of industry trends, and collaborating with a creative team to deliver high-quality editorial packages.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Development

• Research, pitch, write, and edit compelling articles and features primarily related to food, travel, and lifestyle trends, always framed within the South-Asian cultural context and diaspora.
• Develop a unique and engaging writing style that resonates with the target audience and contemporary youth culture zeitgeist.
• Generate new article ideas daily by pitching and brainstorming with the editorial team.
• Conduct outreach and facilitate interviews with relevant figures, food curators, lifestyle brands, and creatives.

Research & Trend Analysis

• Conduct thorough research to gather information on lifestyle trends, unique culinary experiences, industry developments, consumer preferences, and cultural influences.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in the food, travel, and lifestyle industries to ensure content is relevant and timely.
• Identify and report on influential figures and brands in the creative, food, and travel industries within the South Asian community.

Digital Optimization & Collaboration

• Optimize articles for search engines (SEO) by conducting keyword research and optimizing headlines to ensure content is easily discoverable online.
• Collaborate and coordinate with the internal creative team (photographers, graphic designers, or illustrators) to incorporate visual elements including images, illustrations, and videos into content.
• Review and edit your own work for clarity, grammar, and style, and collaborate with editors to refine and improve content as needed.
• Meet strict daily deadlines for article submission in a fast-paced environment.

Eligibility Requirements

Essential Skills & Knowledge

• Strong writing skills with impeccable grammar, a keen eye for detail, and excellent self-editing ability.
• A passion for and deep knowledge of culture, identity, food, travel, and lifestyle trends, particularly within the South-Asian context.
• Strong research skills and the ability to analyze and interpret data from various sources. Creativity and a keen eye for visual aesthetics.
• Relevant experience in engaging with food, travel, and lifestyle content is a plus.

Technical & Professional Capabilities

• Proficiency in digital media tools (e.g., Google Trends, Google Docs, etc.), content management systems, and social media platforms.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills for networking, building relationships within the industry, and collaborating effectively with internal teams.
