Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Drone Pilot Team Lead to oversee our aerial survey operations team, specializing in mining survey operations and digital technology deployment. You will lead a team of 7 drone pilots operating from different locations within india. The successful candidate will lead a team of drone pilots while maintaining hands-on involvement in simple aerial surveys, data collection and ensuring safe drone operations. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to drive excellence in mining operations through innovative drone technology. Work location will be Chhattisgarh or Karnataka or madhya pradesh.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Lead and manage a team of drone pilots and survey technicians (7 drone pilots) - immediate start required.
Develop and implement operational procedures and safety protocols
Coordinate project assignments and resource allocation across multiple mining sites
Conduct performance evaluations and provide technical training to team members
Liaison with senior management, clients, and cross-functional teams
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
Technical Operations
Operate survey-grade drones for complex mining site mapping, volumetric analysis, and topographical surveys
Deploy and implement digital technologies for mine survey applications
Process and analyze aerial data using specialized software platforms
Ensure team compliance with all DGCA regulations and safety protocols
Collaborate with survey teams, engineers, and project managers
Maintain detailed flight logs and operational records for entire team
Oversee pre-flight and post-flight equipment checks and maintenance protocols
Prepare and review technical reports and data presentations for stakeholders
Quality Assurance & Innovation
Establish quality control standards and review team deliverables
Evaluate and recommend new drone technologies and survey methodologies
Develop best practices and standard operating procedures
Ensure continuous improvement in operational efficiency and data accuracy
Required Qualifications
Experience Requirements
Minimum 4 years of experience
in deployment and implementation of digital technologies in mine survey and allied sectorsMinimum 3 years of hands-on experience
operating survey-grade drones in professional environmentssome epxerinece in team leadership or supervisory experience
in technical or survey operationsProven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously
Certifications & Licenses
Valid DGCA Remote Pilot License (RPL) Small category
All necessary DGCA authorizations for commercial drone operations
Additional instructor or examiner certifications preferred
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in operating survey-grade drone systems
Extensive experience with photogrammetry and LiDAR data collection
Expert knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and surveying software
Advanced familiarity with data processing software - Drone processing software will be from MineExcellence
Deep understanding of coordinate systems, geodetic datums, and survey principles
Project management software proficiency
Leadership Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to mentor and develop technical staff
Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Experience in budget management and resource planning
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in surveying, geomatics, remote sensing, or related field
Professional surveying or engineering certifications
Additional certifications in photogrammetry, LiDAR, or remote sensing applications
Extensive prior experience in mining or infrastructure survey projects
Advanced knowledge of mining operations and safety protocols
Previous experience in open-pit or underground mining environments
PMP or other project management certifications
Experience with fleet management and maintenance scheduling
