Director UI & UX Design

As the Director of UI & UX Design at UKG, you will play a crucial role in leading the vision, strategy, and execution of product design initiatives in India. Your strategic mindset, strong background in user-centered design, and passion for innovation will be instrumental in delivering exceptional user experiences. Here are the key responsibilities you will be entrusted with: - Customer Advocacy: Advocate for customers by providing strategic design leadership to ensure a shared understanding of the customer-centric approach to design, content, business, and technology needs. - Design Quality: Elevate the design quality, processes, and deliverables while focusing on portfolio strategy, prioritization, and creating scalable systems for design work. - Cross-functional Alignment: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align on customer problems and product vision, negotiating solutions that balance customer desirability, business viability, and tech feasibility. - Navigating Ambiguity: Proactively navigate through understanding customer needs, defining new products, and applying new technologies by bringing clarity and structure to uncertain situations. - Innovation Leadership: Lead the team in exploring new technologies, AI, and UX to drive innovation and experimentation in design and interaction patterns. - Stakeholder Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with partners and stakeholders globally, prioritizing customer needs and resolving challenges to drive product development forward. - Team Development: Invest in the growth and development of a diverse team of design leaders, fostering a culture of inclusion and creativity. To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications: - 15+ years of experience in product design, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership/mentorship roles. - Expertise in user experience (UX) design, user interface (UI) design, interaction design, and information architecture. - Proven track record of leading successful product design initiatives and delivering impactful user experiences. - Strong understanding of design thinking, user-centered design principles, and design systems. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Preferred qualifications include: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. - Experience presenting to and advising senior leaders outside of design. - Experience integrating design within product teams for agile design and development collaboration. - Portfolio showcasing work led and shipped by teams in B2B or B2C services space. - Proficiency in leveraging AI technologies and comfort with ambiguity in product development. - Experience working with globally distributed teams.
