Position Summary

The Director of Research, Development & Engineering (RD&E) is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving innovation, managing complex engineering projects, and leading a large team of engineers and researchers. The role involves creating and executing R&D strategies and roadmaps in alignment with business objectives, fostering a culture of technical excellence, and ensuring successful delivery of high-impact projects.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute R&D strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
  
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain competitive advantage.
  
• Provide strategic guidance, mentorship, and thought leadership across R&D functions.
  
• Manage R&D budgets and ensure effective utilization of resources.
  

Team Leadership & Development

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering and R&D team.
  
• Oversee recruitment, training, and capability-building initiatives.
  
• Implement performance management processes including succession planning, 9-box evaluations, and career development frameworks.
  
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with global and local stakeholders.
  

Project Management

• Lead multiple R&D projects ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  
• Monitor progress, mitigate risks, and ensure effective stakeholder communication.
  
• Apply modern project management methodologies to optimize delivery and outcomes.
  
• Establish and maintain quality standards and best practices across projects.
  

Technical Expertise

• Provide technical leadership and direction on product and technology development.
  
• Stay updated with the latest advancements, tools, and industry best practices.
  
• Guide teams in creating specifications, technical documents, and product designs.
  
• Ensure team proficiency in tools such as EPlan, E3, Catia, and other relevant platforms.
