We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Solution Architect to lead the architectural vision and implementation of our Design System, ensuring its seamless integration with our Web Fabric platform and stream-aligned team topologies. This role will be responsible for defining the strategy, governance, and technical roadmap for the Bell Experience Multibrand Design System, empowering teams to build consistent, accessible, and high-quality user experiences across all our web applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in design systems, UI component libraries, accessibility standards, and modern web development practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design System Architecture & Strategy:
• Define and maintain the overall architecture of the Bell Experience Multibrand Design System, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with brand guidelines.
• Develop and execute a technical roadmap for the Design System, prioritizing features and improvements based on business needs and user feedback.
• Establish and enforce governance policies for the Design System, including component contribution guidelines, versioning strategies, and release management processes.
• Collaborate with design leadership to ensure the Design System aligns with brand standards and user experience principles.
• Component Library Leadership:
• Oversee the development and maintenance of our core UI component library.
• Define standards for component development, ensuring accessibility, performance, and reusability.
• Guide the selection and integration of third-party libraries and frameworks as needed.
• Ensure that components are well-documented and easy to use by developers across stream-aligned teams.
• Web Fabric Integration:
• Collaborate with the Web Fabric team to develop tooling and processes that simplify the adoption of the Design System by stream-aligned teams.
• Accessibility & Standards Compliance:
• Champion accessibility and ensure that the Design System adheres to WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines.
• Implement automated accessibility testing and validation processes, where applicable.
• Connect regularly with the accessibility experts within Bell to stay informed on the latest accessibility policies and regulations.
• Team Enablement & Collaboration:
• Provide guidance and support to stream-aligned teams on the use of the Design System.
• Facilitate collaboration between designers and developers to ensure a consistent and high-quality user experience.
• Develop and deliver training sessions on Design System principles and best practices.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the Design System team.
• Technology Stack Management:
• Maintain a deep understanding of the Design System technology stack, including React, TypeScript, CSS Modules, and related tools.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve the Design System.
• Ensure that the technology stack is aligned with industry best practices and security standards.
• Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
• Define and track key performance metrics for the Design System, including component render times and bundle sizes.
• Identify and implement optimizations to improve the performance and scalability of the Design System.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Design, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on UI development and design systems.
• 5+ years of experience in a solution architect role, with a focus on design systems.
• Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and CSS Modules.
• Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices.
• Experience building and maintaining UI component libraries.
• Experience with design tools such as Figma.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with stream-aligned team topologies and microfrontend architectures is a plus.
