Job Title: Design Head / Studio Head Interior Fit-Out & Architectural Firm

Job Summary:

The Design Head will be responsible for leading the creative, technical, and strategic aspects of the firm, ensuring excellence in commercial and office interior fit-out projects. They will oversee the entire design team, manage project execution, and maintain strong industry connections to drive business growth. The role demands a balance of creative vision, technical expertise, leadership, and strategic networking to position the firm as a leader in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Team Management:

  • Solely responsible for managing a multidisciplinary design team, including:
    • Architects
    • Draughtsmen
    • Graphic Designers
    • Interior Designers
    • Other associated professionals essential for running a full-scale design firm.
  • Provide strategic direction to ensure design consistency, innovation, and alignment with client expectations.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work culture, mentoring team members for professional growth.

2. Expertise in Commercial & Office Interior Fit-Outs:

  • Strong experience in commercial and office interior fit-outs, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Expertise in workspace planning, ergonomic design, and corporate branding through interiors.
  • Deep understanding of material selection, lighting design, acoustics, and sustainability in commercial spaces.
  • Ability to coordinate with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) teams, ensuring seamless integration of services.

3. Design & Technical Expertise:

  • Lead the development of architectural and interior design concepts, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications for execution.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, material specifications, and construction methodologies.
  • Expertise in Revit, BIM (Building Information Modeling), AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other essential 3D design software for architectural firms.
  • Stay updated with emerging design trends, materials, and technologies to enhance project outcomes.

4. Coordination Across Disciplines:

  • Ensure seamless coordination between all relevant associate works, including:
    • Structural engineers
    • MEP consultants
    • Lighting designers
    • Furniture manufacturers
    • Contractors and subcontractors
  • Oversee integration of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems within design frameworks.
  • Ensure smooth execution of projects by aligning design intent with technical feasibility.

5. Compliance with NBC Norms & Regulatory Standards:

  • Deep knowledge of the National Building Code (NBC) norms and their application in commercial and office interior fit-outs.
  • Ensure compliance with fire safety, accessibility, ventilation, and sustainability guidelines as per NBC.
  • Stay updated with latest amendments and best practices in building regulations.

6. Project Management & Execution:

  • Oversee design timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and procurement teams to bring designs to life.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications throughout the design and execution phases.

7. Client & Industry Engagement:

  • Maintain strong industry connections with:
    • PMCs (Project Management Consultants)
    • Architectural firms
    • Clients
    • Vendors and suppliers
  • Conduct client meetings to understand requirements, present design proposals, and incorporate feedback.
  • Represent the firm in industry events, networking forums, and business development initiatives.

8. Branding & Business Growth:

  • Contribute to branding efforts by ensuring design consistency and innovation in all projects.
  • Develop strategic partnerships to enhance the firm’s market positioning and business opportunities.
  • Ensure the firm’s design philosophy aligns with corporate values and industry standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (B.Arch / M.Arch) from a recognized institution.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in architectural and interior design, preferably in commercial and office fit-out projects.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale design projects and managing multidisciplinary teams.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, material specifications, and building codes.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to engage clients and stakeholders effectively.
  • Strategic networking skills to maintain industry connections and drive business growth.
  • Ability to balance creativity with technical precision and business objectives.
