Job Purpose
To design, plan, and execute project drawings and related documentation for Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) and Industrial Construction projects. The Design Engineer will coordinate with Project Managers, Draftsmen, and Production teams to deliver accurate, timely, and ISO-compliant design outputs, ensuring alignment with project requirements and client approvals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Coordination & Requirement Collection
- Obtain all project details and technical requirements from the authorized person (Project Manager).
- Participate in discussion meetings for complete understanding of project scope and specifications.
- Ensure design outputs are aligned with site conditions, client needs, and company standards.
2. Design Preparation & Detailing
- Provide clear, accurate inputs to the Draftsman for model drawing preparation.
- Review and verify all model drawings before uploading them to ERP software.
- Prepare key design deliverables, including:
- MD-A:Main Section Drawings
- MD-B:Gable End Section Drawings
- MD-C:Purlin Layout Drawings
- MD-D:Column Layout / Bed Bolt Drawings
- Define drawing timelines, allocate work to team members, and monitor progress against schedule.
- After Project Manager / MD approval, prepare part drawings and assist the Draftsman in detailing.
3. Approval & Documentation
- Enter all project plans in ERP software and update daily working status.
- Submit design files to Production In-charge for review and ensure feedback is received within 24 hours.
- Revise and re-design corrected areas as per feedback and obtain final approval.
- Compare finalized designs with project schedule to ensure full compliance.
- Submit final ISO-formatted drawings and schedules to the MD for approval (no oral approvals allowed).
- Share the approved main drawing file (excluding schedule) with the client for their confirmation.
- Follow up with the customer to obtain final approval before production release.
4. Production Coordination
- Provide approved design CAD files to the Production In-charge for CNC programming.
- Prepare accurateBill of Materials (BOM)for every approved design.
- Submit material requests to the Purchase Department.
- Send final drawing and schedule files to Production.
- Maintain physical and soft copies of all project files, including:
- Measurement data, meeting minutes, approvals, and correspondence.
- Separate storage for old-version CAD files.
5. Quality & Compliance
- Re-check production progress to ensure design-versus-product accuracy.
- Conduct random product measurements and inspections.
- Review inspection reports versus BOM; make corrections if discrepancies arise.
- Coordinate with logistics for vehicle arrangements and dispatch readiness.
- Ensure all documentation follows ISO standards and company protocol.
6. Reporting & Communication
- Submit daily reports to MD / HR / Project Head / Department Head.
- Conduct weekly project review meetings with design and related teams.
- Maintain healthy inter-departmental communication and people management within the team.
- Follow all company rules, safety policies, and ethical work practices.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education:B.E / B.Tech/ in Civil, Mechanical, or ME,Structural Engineering.
- Experience:35 years of experience in PEB or Industrial Building design.
- Software Skills:AutoCAD, STAAD Pro / Tekla / MBS (Preferred), and ERP tools.
- Core Competencies:
- Strong technical drawing and visualization ability.

- Knowledge of fabrication and erection sequence.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and design validation.
