As a DBA (PostgreSQL/Oracle) in AWS, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing databases to ensure smooth operations. Here is a summary of what the job entails: **Role Overview:** You will be responsible for overseeing the administration of either PostgreSQL or Oracle databases within the AWS cloud environment. Your primary focus will be on performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting to maintain the integrity and efficiency of the databases. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage and maintain PostgreSQL or Oracle databases in an AWS environment, including RDS, Aurora, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and IAM. - Implement database security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant requirements. - Perform database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting to enhance efficiency. - Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning. - Collaborate with teams to automate database processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. - Utilize strong problem-solving skills to address issues and optimize database performance. - Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in database administration. **Qualifications Required:** - Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a DBA, specializing in either PostgreSQL or Oracle. - Strong understanding of database concepts, relational database models, SQL, and database architecture. - Hands-on experience with database administration tools and utilities. - Proficiency in performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting techniques. - Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning. - Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance requirements. - Experience working within the AWS cloud environment. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - Strong communication and collaboration skills.
