Database Developer

As a Database Developer at PTS Consulting Services, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing database solutions based on business requirements. You will create and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, and views, as well as develop and optimize stored procedures, triggers, and functions. Monitoring and optimizing database performance to ensure efficient query execution will be a key part of your role, along with identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and optimizing SQL queries. Implementing data security measures and ensuring data integrity through proper normalization and validation techniques will also be essential tasks. Additionally, you will perform routine backups and recovery procedures, plan and execute database patching and upgrades, and collaborate with application developers and system administrators to integrate database solutions into the overall system architecture. Troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues in a timely manner will be crucial, along with providing technical support and guidance to other team members. To qualify for this position, you should have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with proven experience as a Database Developer or in a similar role. Proficiency in SQL and database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server is required, as well as experience with cloud database services like Azure SQL Database and AWS RDS. A strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting is essential, along with knowledge of data security best practices and principles. Familiarity with database backup and recovery procedures, excellent collaboration, and communication skills are also necessary. Preferred skills for this role include experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Cassandra, knowledge of data warehousing concepts and techniques, and programming skills in languages such as Python and Java.
