Position Summary -

Collaborate with the engineering team to design and architect the database schema for optimal performance, data integrity, and scalability.
Define and implement an effective indexing strategy to speed up data retrieval operations. Evaluate and recommend appropriate indexes based on query patterns.
Analyze and optimize SQL queries to ensure they run efficiently. Work closely with developers to improve query performance and reduce response times.
Develop, refine, and deploy automation scripts and tools to enhance system provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and management, with an emphasis on cloud services integration and management.
Provide training to the engineering team on database(RDS, Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL) best practices, query optimization techniques, and the use of database tools.
Act as a subject matter expert in troubleshooting database-related issues. Respond quickly to incidents, diagnose problems, and implement solutions.
Use database profiling tools to analyze query execution plans and identify areas for improvement. Provide recommendations to enhance overall system performance.
Collaborate closely with software developers and engineers to understand application requirements and provide guidance on database-related aspects.
Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies. Test and validate the effectiveness of backup and restore procedures regularly.
Implement and enforce security best practices for the database system. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Implement monitoring solutions to track database performance metrics. Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and issues.
Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in database technologies, Amazon RDS features, and MySQL updates. Evaluate and recommend the adoption of new features that can benefit the system.
Lead initiatives to ensure the utmost reliability, scalability, and performance of our server, storage, and cloud platforms, employing thorough performance management strategies to identify and proactively address potential issues.
Participate in and often lead comprehensive project assignments, ensuring meticulous attention to detail in maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives for optimal company operations.
Maintain scrupulous documentation for system changes, automation processes, and platform configurations, strictly adhering to the companys change management policies.
Excel in collaboration and communication with diverse stakeholder groups, breaking down complex technical topics into clear, understandable insights, and advocating for infrastructure needs and priorities.
Experience working in an agile development environment. Understanding of iterative development, sprints, and collaboration within cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of CI/CD practices related to database changes, including versioning, automated testing, and deployment automation.

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

Proficient understanding of the AWS platform
Proficient understanding of virtualization technologies: Server, Storage, Networking
Proficient understanding of computer programming languages: Java, Hibernate, Springboot frameworks, etc
Proficient understanding of scripting languages, and software and infrastructure automation skills like python, shell scripting
Detailed and fully proficient knowledge of technology trends and champions new ideas and product and process improvements.
Strong understanding of security, risk, and compliance frameworks, disaster recovery, high availability architectures, hardware, operating systems, and networking connectivity.
Experience creating templates with CloudFormation, and similar technologies.
Shows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with very little direction or can provide direction and leadership to technical teams.
Fully proficient ability to handle significant responsibility, leadership, and accountability while executing complex assignments.
Knowledge of systems architecture.
Able to accept & integrate constructive feedback
Proficient ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals
Proficient ability to learn and apply GDMS culture, policies, and processes
Experience in Lambda, S3, RDS, Cloud formation, Aurora, Redshift, DynamoDb
Plus: Experience working with Streaming Data and data extraction from different Databases (Oracle, DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc) SQL
Experience working on Python
Understanding of data engineering, real-time streaming and/or eventing, and JSON parsing
Knowledge of AWS data pipeline, Glue, S3, and Redshift skills to aggregate data from various AWS S3 and other sources, cleanse, format it, and organize in S3/Redshift data model.
Experience building ETL/ELT processes within AWS
Effective communication skills (written and oral)
Generate metrics that will help drive decisions for load balancing on the databases in the AWS.
Automation for detection of database health and maintaining quality.
Create a design and process for database restore/restructure in case of excessive disaster and or work loads.
Research, propose and implement an upgrade plan to take Securonix databases to next generation technologies.

Bonus Points For -

Bachelor s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or relevant field.
A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
Proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for improving the system architectures
Show strong ability in handling the streaming data applications
Strong knowledge of database structure systems and data mining.
Strong knowledge of SQL, hibernate, java, database tuning. query tuning.
Strong knowledge of RDS, Mysql, NoSQL databases.
AWS certification in database speciality is a plus.
Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
Outstanding problem solver.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
