As a Database Architect specializing in PostgreSQL, your role will involve leading enterprise-level database design, optimization, and performance engineering. You will be responsible for architecting and managing large-scale, mission-critical database systems with high performance, scalability, and security standards. Here are the key responsibilities associated with this role: - **Database Architecture & Design** - Architect and design scalable PostgreSQL database solutions for enterprise-grade applications. - Develop database strategies for data modeling, storage, and performance optimization. - Define database design standards, documentation, and governance models. - **Performance & Optimization** - Conduct query tuning, indexing strategies, and database optimization for large datasets. - Establish monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning mechanisms. - Optimize schema design and database operations for performance and scalability. - **Data Management & Security** - Implement high-availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions. - Manage data replication, partitioning, and clustering. - Enforce database security, access control, and compliance policies. - **Leadership & Collaboration** - Mentor DBA and developer teams in best practices. - Collaborate with development, DevOps, and cloud teams on architecture and deployment. - Lead database migration and modernization initiatives. **Qualifications Required:** - 15-20 years of overall IT experience with 10+ years in database architecture and PostgreSQL. - Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals, replication, partitioning, and performance tuning. - Strong knowledge of database design patterns, data modeling, and normalization. - Hands-on experience with cloud-based PostgreSQL (AWS RDS, Azure Database, or GCP SQL). - Advanced understanding of HA/DR tools (Patroni, Pgpool-II, repmgr). - Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and scripting (Bash/Python). - Experience in data governance, audit compliance, and large-scale data environments. - Excellent leadership, communication, and documentation skills. **Preferred Skills:** - Exposure to microservices-based data architecture. - Familiarity with containerized PostgreSQL (Docker/Kubernetes). - Experience with performance benchmarking and monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or pgBadger. - Certification in PostgreSQL or Database Architecture is a plus.
