Database Administrator

Job Location: ITPL Whitefield- Bangalore

Required Experience: 3-5 years

We are seeking a motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our global team. This role focuses on supporting, maintaining, and optimizing modern database platforms across cloud and on-prem environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on DBA experience, exposure to cloud technologies, and a strong willingness to grow into advanced database engineering and automation.

Job Description

• Support the administration of PostgreSQL and/or MySQL databases across development, test, and production environments.

• Assist with the deployment, monitoring, backup, and recovery of databases, ensuring availability, security, and reliability.

• Collaborate with senior DBAs, application teams, and DevOps engineers to deliver scalable and cost-effective solutions.

• Participate in performance monitoring and tuning activities to ensure optimal system performance.

• Contribute to automation efforts (provisioning, patching, reporting) using scripting and infrastructure-as-code under guidance.

• Support high availability and disaster recovery implementations.

• Help document processes, runbooks, and standards to improve consistency and knowledge sharing.

• Participate in on-call rotation as part of the global DBA team.

• Stay current with databases and cloud innovations, developing skills for future career growth.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience as a Database Administrator (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar database technology).

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of AWS database services or willingness to learn.

• Understanding performance tuning, SQL optimization, and monitoring tools.

• Familiarity with backup/recovery, HA/DR concepts, and security best practices.

• Some exposure to automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or scripting languages such as Python/Bash) is desirable.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive learning mindset.

• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team.
