Database Administrator The Database Administrator is responsible for all aspects of SQL Server administration including architecture, management, high availability and security best practices. This individual will be responsible for aiding in design, implementation, support and maintenance of large-scale database environments. The candidate will manage and support current and future database environments and assist initiatives for both on premise and hosted databases. The candidate will proactively seek out new technology and solutions to changing products, as well as research and create best practices for the deployment of new SQL features and solutions to critical issues. What youll be doing: Maintains database by identifying and solving database requirements; supporting users. Work with application developers to design and develop new database schemas and review code for performance and scalability. Identifies database requirements by interviewing customers; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems. Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications. Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products. Ensure that organizational data is secure. Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions Maintain and perform backup, restore and disaster recovery solutions Ensure that the database operates efficiently and without error. Knowledge of SQL Server High Availability design options (AlwaysOn, Clustering, SAN replication, backup solutions and disaster recovery approaches). Experience setting up and configuring all SQL ancillary products, including Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS) and Analysis Services (SSAS). Experience working with custom applications built on SQL Server. Familiarity with automation and scripting, with focus on PowerShell, C#, and other modern languages and tools. Ability to create and implement custom, as well as third-party, monitoring and alerting solutions. Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, local security policies, security delegation, Service Principle Names, storage configuration and optimization. Work with business analysts, product managers to translate functional specifications into a thorough set of test cases, define integration, regression tests to align with product release cycles. Continue to work closely with the development teams throughout the software development life cycle to capture additional test scenarios and acceptance criteria covering both functional and non-functional requirements. Design, develop manual automation tests using industry-standard automation tools and frameworks. Execute manual automated tests, analyze the test results and log detailed reports for any bugs found into the defect tracking system. Provide subject matter expertise in quality engineering, mentor junior QA engineers, determine best practices and promote them across the team and organization. Provide timely and accurate reports to business stakeholders and help them ascertain the severity and priority of reported issues. Identify opportunities for automating test cases, workflows and implement automation solutions and analyze results. Analyze current test processes, perform gap analysis and drive improvements. Ensure test repositories are kept up to date by adding and updating tests, ensuring compliance from team members. Ensure test management procedures are being followed and take corrective actions where needed. Help in determining best practices and promote them across the team and organization. Participate in UAT by assisting end users in troubleshooting, replicating and facilitating resolution for issues found during testing, and validating any fixes required. Facilitate coaching and training for non-QA team members regarding quality processes. Demonstrate willingness to work on your craft and take initiative in learning new skills.
