Database Administration Senior Specialist

As a Database Administration Specialist at NTT DATA, you will play a crucial role in implementing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our client applications. This hands-on position demands strong technical expertise along with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. You will be tasked with managing SQL Server databases across various lifecycle stages, from development to production. Your duties will include configuring and monitoring database servers, ensuring system health, and performance to maintain high levels of availability, security, and performance. Additionally, you will be responsible for database performance tuning, planning, deploying, and troubleshooting high-availability database environments like Always-On, Clustering, and Mirroring. In this role, you will need to independently analyze, resolve, and troubleshoot issues in real-time while providing end-to-end problem resolution. It will be essential to refine and automate regular processes, document changes, and track issues to optimize efficiency and reduce costs. Moreover, you will be expected to offer 24x7 support for critical production systems and perform scheduled maintenance and release deployment activities after hours. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with end customers, business stakeholders, and technical resources. Sharing your domain and technical expertise, providing mentorship, and cross-training to peers and team members will also be part of your responsibilities. To qualify for this position, you should have at least 6 years of experience in SQL Server database administration, specifically on versions 2008/2012/Above, in an enterprise environment with multiple database servers. Proficiency in Performance Tuning and Optimization, backups, restores, recovery models, incident management, and High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server is crucial. Moreover, experience with Windows server, Active Directory, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a flexible, team-oriented mindset are required. Having a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent is preferred for this role. Additionally, certifications such as MCTS, MCITP, MVP, and experience in scripting, SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, complex query tuning, and schema refinement would be advantageous. Strong foundational knowledge in ITIL, Continual Service Improvement, and Total Quality Management is also beneficial.
