Database Administration Senior Specialist

The Database Administration Specialist at NTT DATA will be responsible for managing the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. This role requires hands-on experience with technical skills in order to ensure the availability and consistent performance of client applications. Additionally, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration within the team. Key responsibilities of the role include managing SQL Server databases across various lifecycle environments, from development to production systems, as well as configuring and maintaining database servers and processes to ensure high performance, availability, and security. The Specialist will be involved in database performance tuning, planning, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-availability database environments, and providing 24x7 support for critical production systems. Furthermore, the Database Administration Specialist will independently analyze and resolve issues in real time, automate processes for efficiency and cost optimization, perform scheduled maintenance, and support release deployment activities after hours. This role also involves sharing domain and technical expertise, providing mentorship to team members, and working directly with end customers and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate for this position should have at least 6 years of experience in SQL Server database administration, with expertise in versions 2008/2012/Above in an enterprise environment. Proficiency in Performance Tuning and Optimization, backups, restores, recovery models, incident management, and High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server is required. Additionally, experience with Windows Server, including Active Directory, is beneficial. Desired qualifications include excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving abilities, flexibility, teamwork, and the capability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment. The Specialist should be able to multitask effectively, demonstrate a strong ITIL foundation, and possess experience in Continual Service Improvement and Total Quality Management. Optional skills such as scripting, SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, complex query tuning, and certifications like MCTS, MCITP, and MVP are advantageous. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent is the preferred educational background for this role.,
