Data Scientist Smart Metering and Utility Data

As a Data Scientist at our company, you will play a crucial role in transforming raw metering data into actionable insights to support decision-making across the organization. Your responsibilities will include: - Analyzing large volumes of smart metering data from MDM and HES systems, including interval consumption, events, read quality, and exceptions. - Identifying and interpreting consumption patterns, anomalies, and trends to provide actionable insights for business and product teams. - Designing and building dashboards, visualizations, and reports using various tools. - Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and create meaningful analytics views. - Developing rule-based or statistical models for event analytics, billing exceptions, load profiling, and customer segmentation. - Translating complex findings into clear business insights and recommendations. - Ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and integrity across different systems and reporting layers. - Building automated pipelines to support near real-time and periodic reporting needs. To excel in this role, you should have: - 3+ years of experience working with utilities, energy data, particularly from smart meters. - The ability to independently explore data, validate assumptions, and present clear narratives. - Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases and data marts. - Proficiency in data visualization tools. - A solid understanding of smart meter data structure, including interval reads, TOU, events, and consumption patterns. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with MDM, HES, and utility billing systems, exposure to AMI events analysis, load curves, and customer behavior analytics, knowledge of regulatory requirements, data retention, and data privacy in the energy sector, and experience working with large-scale datasets and data platforms like Delta Lake, Apache Airflow, and Apache Spark.
