Data Scientist Smart Metering and Utility Data

As a Data Scientist at our company, your main role will involve transforming raw metering data into actionable insights and delivering high-quality dashboards and analytics to support operational and strategic decision-making across the organization. Key Responsibilities: - Analyze large volumes of smart metering data such as interval consumption, events, read quality, and exceptions from MDM and HES systems. - Identify and interpret consumption patterns, anomalies, and trends to drive actionable insights for business and product teams. - Design and build dashboards, visualizations, and reports using relevant tools. - Collaborate with product managers, operations, and engineering teams to define data requirements and design meaningful analytics views. - Develop rule-based or statistical models for event analytics, billing exceptions, load profiling, and customer segmentation. - Translate complex findings into easy-to-understand business insights and recommendations. - Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and integrity across different systems and reporting layers. - Build automated pipelines to support near real-time and periodic reporting needs. Qualifications Required: - 3+ years of experience working with utilities, energy data, particularly from smart meters. - Ability to independently explore data, validate assumptions, and present clear narratives. - Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases and data marts. - Proficiency in data visualization tools. - Solid understanding of smart meter data structure including interval reads, TOU, events, and consumption patterns. - Preferred: Familiarity with MDM, HES, and utility billing systems. - Exposure to AMI events analysis, load curves, and customer behavior analytics. - Knowledge of regulatory requirements, data retention, and data privacy in the energy sector. - Experience working with large-scale datasets and data platforms such as Delta Lake, Apache Airflow, and Apache Spark.
