Data Engineer III

As a Data Engineer at Perch Energy, you will be an integral part of our team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines. Your role will involve collaborating closely with our Data and Analytics Engineering team, as well as engineering and operations teams, to ensure the smooth flow and availability of high-quality data for analysis and reporting purposes. Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing data workflows, ensuring data integrity, and scaling our data infrastructure to support the company's growth. In this position, you will be working on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines within an AWS environment. This will involve leveraging tools such as Snowflake, Fivetran, Prefect, Argo, and dbt to build robust data solutions. You will collaborate with various teams to understand data requirements and deliver reliable solutions, as well as design and maintain tooling that facilitates interaction with our data platform. Key responsibilities include identifying and implementing best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and storage, optimizing data pipelines for improved performance, monitoring data pipelines to ensure uninterrupted data flow, and implementing data governance and security measures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Additionally, staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering and recommending their adoption as appropriate will be essential. To succeed in this role, you must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer, data-adjacent Software Engineer, or a member of a small data team focused on building and maintaining data pipelines. Strong Python skills, proficiency in SQL, familiarity with data integration patterns, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts, as well as experience with data orchestration tools like Argo, Prefect, or Airflow are essential. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, a customer-oriented approach to data usage, and strong communication skills are also key attributes for success. While not mandatory, having an undergraduate or graduate degree in a technical field, experience with AWS, Snowflake, Fivetran, Argo, Prefect, dbt, and Github Actions, familiarity with DevOps practices, and previous experience in managing enterprise-level data pipelines and working with large datasets would be advantageous.
