Description
Job Requirements The development, implementation and application of corrosion control strategies, performing materials and coating selection studies, development of corrosion management strategies and corrosion risk assessments. Defect assessment; anomaly management; developing risk-based inspection programs; management of corrosion control matrices and integrity management databases. Provide materials selection expertise based upon knowledge of metallurgy, engineering materials, operating environment and material degradation mechanisms. Writing, checking and issuing of design documents for cathodic protection systems for pipeline (onshore and offshore) and static pressure systems components. Conduct corrosion modelling activities, contribute to fitness for service studies and provide remaining life assessments. Audit of corrosion management strategies and delivery of continuous improvement of integrity management systems Assist in the training / development of other team members. Review ITT (invitation to tender) documents and prepare project cost and time estimates (CTRs) Ensures successful completion of the assigned project/phase within the budgeted time and cost Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling Evaluates problems, organizes investigations and establishes general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes, etc. Check Engineering calculations as well as check all drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards; Assist with the development of less senior Technical Professionals Organizing and active participation in design reviews Solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches; exercises mature professional judgment in evaluating and selecting technical strategic options. Regularly functions as a technical leader or significant contributor to a major complex problem or projects. Produces innovative ideas and solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches. Provide technical input and support to proposals as required Assist in performing managerial tasks as requested, such as assigning tasks to engineers; planning and coordinating portions of the engineering work; preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets; attending project meetings; and developing lesser-experienced technical professionals. Approves work schedules and makes recommendations for increased resources and special equipment. Makes commitments on acceptance of projects, completion dates, resources and staff required to meet goals. Coordinates the activities of engineering and design groups assigned to small projects May manage one or more small projects, with responsibility for cost, schedule, resources allocation and risk. Work Experience Bachelor’s degree in Materials/ Metallurgy/ Chemistry is preferred. Master’s / PhD is plus. Experience of 10+ years in the Oil & Gas or Energy industries preferred in a role which had a primary technical function requiring the provision of corrosion engineering services. Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating and mentoring professional engineering specialists. Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments. Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards Technically competent in own discipline, pursues continuous professional development of skills and knowledge according to standards. Compelling communicator both verbally and in written form Good interpersonal and team working skills, builds positive relationships with supervisors, subordinates, peers and clients.
