Role Summary

The Consultant Cardiologist will be responsible for providing comprehensive cardiac care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with cardiovascular diseases. The role includes outpatient services, inpatient care, performing cardiac procedures, and offering expert clinical guidance to the cardiology team.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of cardiovascular conditions.
  • Provide OPD and IPD consultations, follow-up care, and treatment planning.
  • Perform cardiac procedures such as echocardiography, stress tests, TMT, angiography, angioplasty, and other interventions depending on expertise.
  • Interpret ECG, Echo, TMT, Holter, and other cardiac diagnostic tests accurately.
  • Handle cardiac emergencies and provide timely interventions.

Procedural & Interventional Responsibilities

  • Conduct interventional cardiology procedures (as per qualification):
    • Coronary angioplasty and stenting
    • Pacemaker/ICD implantation
    • Structural heart interventions (if applicable)
  • Supervise and guide junior doctors, technicians, and nursing staff during procedures.

Patient Management & Safety

  • Ensure high-quality and evidence-based patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
  • Ensure compliance with all clinical protocols and hospital safety standards.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Mentor Senior Residents, Junior Residents, and Nurses.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, departmental rounds, and case discussions.
  • Support academic activities, CME programs, and training initiatives.

Administration & Coordination

  • Coordinate with departments such as Emergency, ICU, Radiology, and OT for seamless patient care.
  • Contribute to quality improvement activities and hospital audits.
  • Assist in developing departmental policies, SOPs, and clinical pathways.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MD/DNB in General Medicine followed by DM/DNB in Cardiology.
  • Valid Medical Council Registration.
  • Minimum

    0-3 years

    experience as Consultant or Fellow (adjust as needed).
