Job Description Position: Consultant Ophthalmologist /VR Surgeon Key Responsibilities: 1. Patient Care: • Conduct thorough examinations of patients' eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases. • Prescribe and administer treatments such as medications, surgeries, and other specialized medical care. • Perform surgical procedures • Provide pre- and post-operative care to ensure optimal patient outcomes. • Develop treatment plans based on patient history and results of diagnostic tests 2. Surgical Expertise: • Utilize advanced surgical techniques and technology to perform intricate eye surgeries with precision. • Ensure all surgical procedures are carried out in accordance with hospital policies and industry standards. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest surgical advancements and integrate them into practice. 3. Clinical Administration: • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and outcomes. • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including optometrists, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure comprehensive patient care. • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures. 4. Training and Mentorship: • Provide training and mentorship to junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals • Participate in continuing education programs to stay current with developments in ophthalmology • Conduct workshops and seminars to share knowledge and expertise within the hospital and the broader medical community.
5. Research and Development: • Engage in clinical research to advance the field of ophthalmology and improve patient care practices. • Publish findings in medical journals and present at conferences to contribute to the global medical community. • Collaborate with research institutions and industry partners on innovative projects and clinical trials. 6. Quality Assurance and Compliance: • Ensure all treatments and procedures comply with relevant health and safety regulations and quality standards. • Conduct regular audits and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care services. • Report any adverse events or complications promptly and take appropriate corrective actions. 7. Community Outreach: • Participate in community outreach programs to raise awareness about eye health and preventive care. • Organize and conduct eye health camps, screenings, and educational sessions in collaboration with local organizations. • Advocate for eye health and contribute to public health initiatives aimed at reducing the prevalence of preventable blindness. Educational Qualifications: • MBBS from a recognized university. • Postgraduate Degree/Diploma in Ophthalmology (MS/MD/DNB/DO). • Fellowship in sub-specialties (e.g., cataract, cornea, retina, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology, etc.) is preferred. • Valid registration with the Medical Council of India or relevant State Medical Council.
