Consultant Neurosurgeon

The Neurosurgeon is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with disorders of the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and cerebrovascular system. The role involves performing complex surgical procedures, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care:
• Conduct detailed neurological assessments and preoperative evaluations.
• Explain diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, and benefits to patients and families.
• Provide postoperative care and monitor patient recovery.
• Manage emergency neurosurgical cases (trauma, stroke, tumors, etc.).
• Surgical Duties:
• Perform brain, spinal, and peripheral nerve surgeries.
• Utilize advanced surgical techniques, including minimally invasive and endoscopic procedures.
• Maintain accurate surgical and patient records.
• Collaboration & Communication:
• Work closely with neurologists, anesthesiologists, critical care teams, and other specialists.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning.
• Educate patients and families about surgical care, rehabilitation, and long-term outcomes.
• Administration & Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, safety standards, and medical ethics.
• Participate in continuous medical education and professional development.
• Mentor junior surgeons, residents, and trainees.

Qualifications:

• Education: MBBS + MS in General Surgery + M.Ch / DNB in Neurosurgery.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in neurosurgery.
• Skills:
• Expertise in cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve surgery.
• Proficiency in advanced surgical techniques and neuroimaging interpretation.
• Strong patient counseling and communication skills.
