POSITION SUMMARY:
(based in India, preferably in Delhi or Bangalore)
This role is part of the global Corporate Affairs department and works in close collaboration with the entire Marketing and Communications team as well as regional colleagues in India, Indonesia, China, Japan and other APAC countries.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement the
communications strategy and annual communications plan
for the region to ensure our key stakeholders in the region (farmers, forest communities, companies, governments) are engaged and understand how they can work with the Rainforest Alliance as part of our certification and/or landscape and community programs. Work closely with global Marketing and Communications team
and communications managers in other regions to ensure alignment with global communications strategy and priorities, find synergies and optimize processes.Work with regional and country directors
to create visibility and position the Rainforest Alliance as a thought leader in the region and key countries (i.e. through visibility in the media and at strategic events).- Guide and coordinate the work of
project-focused communications staff and consultants
in the region to ensure alignment. - Repurpose relevant global
communications materials and content
for the region and lead production of region-specific communications materials for key audiences, including fact sheets, brochures, decks, support for speaking engagements, website and social media content, videos, event materials - with support of the global Creative & Editorial team. - Work with the global Marketing and Communications team to ensure the work of the region is well represented in all global communications (external and internal),
gathering storytelling collateral
, and advising on priorities from regional perspective. - Strengthen
relations with journalists
in the region in close collaboration with global Media team. Monitor media coverage, be the first point of contact for regional media outlets and proactively cultivate and maintain relationships with key media. - Supervise and help handle
reputational risks
in the region in close collaboration with Corporate Reputation team. - Where necessary, monitor, manage and grow the Rainforest Alliance's
social media channels
in the region. - Proactively and continuously raise awareness of regional staff about Rainforest Alliance's
communications protocols and guidelines
(incl. brand guidelines, media and reputational risk protocols) and monitor that they're followed. - Handle
regional communications budget
in line with the annual communications plan. - Actively contribute to and participate in
internal management
processes to evaluate and improve our communications approach, enhance internal knowledge transfer, and coach local staff to build capacity to communicate effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's or Master's in Communications or related field, or equivalent of education and experience.
- Minimum of 7 years work experience in communications, including media relations and reputation management.
- Proven ability in development and delivery of effective communications strategies and plans.
- Native or near-native proficiency in English, other languages such as Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese are a plus.
- Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive manner.
- Good team player with strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically with diverse internal and external individuals.
- Knowledge of agricultural/NGO sectors and/or environmental and human rights issues is strongly preferred.
- Proactive, self-motivated, dependable and able to work independently.
- Available and willing to travel within India or to other APAC countries at least once a year.
