Job Description

The Coil Packing Technician is responsible for safe and accurate packing of finished coils using wooden pallets, crates, and protective materials to ensure damage-free storage, handling, and dispatch. During non-packing periods, the technician is also required to support shop-floor production and material-handling activities as assigned by the supervisor.

Roles & Responsibilities1. Coil Packing Operations

• Perform wooden packing of finished coils as per packing standards and customer specifications.
• Use wooden pallets, crates, straps, and protective materials correctly.
• Ensure proper wrapping, strapping, and labeling of coils.

2. Floor Support During Non-Packing Time

• Support production and shop-floor activities when packing work is not available.
• Assist in material handling, loading/unloading, and housekeeping activities.
• Follow instructions from supervisors for multitasking support across the shop floor.

3. Material Handling & Safety

• Handle coils safely using cranes, slings, hooks, and lifting tools.
• Follow all safety procedures during packing and floor support activities.
• Use required PPE including safety shoes, gloves, helmet, and eye protection.

4. Quality & Damage Prevention

• Ensure packed coils are protected against damage, rust, moisture, and transit risks.
• Inspect packing quality before dispatch.
• Report any damage, defects, or non-conformities immediately.

5. Documentation & Identification

• Affix packing labels, tags, and identification marks correctly.
• Maintain basic packing and dispatch records.
• Coordinate with dispatch and quality teams for final clearance.

6. Housekeeping & 5S

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in packing and assigned floor areas.
• Follow 5S practices and shop-floor discipline standards.
• Ensure proper storage of packing materials and tools.

7. Teamwork & Discipline

• Work closely with packing supervisors, crane operators, and production staff.
• Support loading, unloading, and dispatch activities as required.
• Adhere to company rules, safety policies, and work instructions.

Education Qualification

• Minimum: 10th Pass / 12th Pass
• Preferred: ITI (Fitter / Welder / Mechanic / Production or equivalent)
• Additional Advantage:
• Experience in coil packing or manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of crane operations and material handling
