Job Description

The Intermediate Assembler/COBOL Developer will collaborate with

IBM squads

and the client

Business Operations team

on planning, intake, and analysis of

COBOL and Copybook code transformations

, including manual code adjustments as required. The role focuses on modernization and cleanup activities while ensuring accuracy in data and code.

Key Responsibilities

Perform
changes in data and COBOL/Assembler programs
as required.
Update
copybooks
and handle
MOVE/MOVE CORRESPONDING operations
safely.
Execute
unit testing
using canned data to ensure correctness.
Participate in
planning, intake, and analysis
of code transformations.
Use
mainframe debugging tools
to identify and resolve issues.
Ensure adherence to coding standards and
accurate file layouts
.
Collaborate with business and technical teams for successful delivery.

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum
3 years of COBOL experience
.
Solid understanding of
PIC and USAGE clauses
, as we'll as arithmetic fundamentals.
Strong skills in
mainframe debugging and unit testing
.
Familiarity with
file layouts, JCL, DB2, CICS
, and
Assembler programs
.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
