Job Summary

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, supervising, and managing all civil works related to the construction and maintenance. The role involves ensuring compliance with design standards, quality, safety regulations, and project timelines while coordinating with architects, MEP teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Planning & Design Coordination

  • Review architectural and structural drawings for feasibility and compliance with hospital and institutional standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed project plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and services consultants (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) to integrate all disciplines smoothly.
  • Ensure proper space utilization and adherence to healthcare design norms and building codes (e.g., NBC, NABH, AICTE standards).

2. Site Supervision & Construction Management

  • Oversee civil construction activities including foundations, RCC works, masonry, finishing, and external development.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
  • Verify and approve material quality as per project specifications (concrete, steel, aggregates, etc.).
  • Supervise contractors and ensure adherence to construction drawings and schedules.
  • Maintain daily progress reports, site logs, and material consumption records.

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Implement quality control procedures and testing protocols for construction materials.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Liaise with consultants for structural audits, testing, and certification.

4. Budgeting & Documentation

  • Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities), rate analysis, and assist in tendering and vendor evaluation.
  • Track project costs and prepare periodic cost reports to control overruns.
  • Verify contractor bills and support project documentation and reporting.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with hospital administration and institute management for design modifications and functional requirements.
  • Coordinate with MEP, interior, and landscaping teams to ensure seamless integration of services.
  • Participate in progress review meetings with management and consultants.

6. Safety & Sustainability

  • Ensure implementation of safety protocols at site for workers and visitors.
  • Promote sustainable construction practices water harvesting, energy-efficient materials, and waste management systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:

    Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering
  • Experience:

    2-8 years (Hospital and Institutional project experience preferred).
  • Knowledge:

    Structural design principles, hospital building standards (NABH), and institutional infrastructure norms (AICTE/UGC).
