Roles & Responsibilities of a Civil Engineer

1. Planning & Documentation

• Preparation of BOQ (Bill of Quantities):

  Analyze construction drawings and specifications to prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates.

• Project Scheduling:

  Develop and monitor project timelines to ensure timely completion of activities.

• Daily Progress Reports (DPR):

  Generate DPRs to track site progress, highlight issues, and update stakeholders.

2. Coordination & Communication

• Coordination with Civil Consultants:

  Collaborate with design and structural consultants to resolve technical queries and ensure design compliance.

• Site Team & Vendor Coordination:

  Maintain daily communication with site engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth execution of work.

• Issue Resolution:

  Discuss and resolve site-related issues with relevant teams to avoid delays.

3. Execution & Supervision

• Site Execution Monitoring:

  Supervise construction activities to ensure adherence to drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

• Measurement Verification:

  Verify measurements on-site for billing and progress tracking.

• Material & Resource Management:

  Ensure timely availability of materials and resources as per project requirements.

4. Safety & Compliance

• Safety Norms Enforcement:

  Ensure implementation of safety protocols in coordination with vendors and site teams.

• Regulatory Compliance:

  Ensure all construction activities comply with local regulations and standards.

5. Quality Assurance

• Quality Checks:

  Conduct regular inspections to maintain construction quality and rectify deviations.

• Documentation:

  Maintain records of inspections, approvals, and quality reports.

6. Reporting & Updates

• Progress Tracking:

  Monitor daily progress against the schedule and report deviations.

• Stakeholder Updates:

  Provide regular updates to project managers and clients regarding progress, issues, and resolutions.
