Chief Manager- Furnace

The Furnace and forehearth Head is responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of the furnace in a glass production plant. This role involves managing the furnace team, ensuring optimal furnace performance, maintaining quality standards, and implementing process improvements to enhance productivity. Also be responsible for scheduling maintenance, managing raw materials, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

1. Furnace Operation Management

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the furnace, ensuring it runs efficiently and safely to meet production targets.

2. Team Supervision

• Manage and coordinate the activities of the furnace team, including scheduling shifts, assigning tasks, and providing training and support.

3. Performance Monitoring

• Monitor furnace parameters and performance, making adjustments as necessary to maintain optimal operation and quality standards.

4. Quality Control

• Ensure that the glass produced meets all quality specifications and standards. Address any deviations promptly.

5. Maintenance Scheduling

• Plan and schedule regular maintenance and repairs of the furnace to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.

6. Raw Material Management:

• Oversee the supply and use of raw materials for the furnace, ensuring the right quantities and quality are maintained.

7. Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.

8. Safety and Compliance

• Ensure all operations comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies. Promote a culture of safety within the team.

9. Reporting

• Prepare and submit regular reports on furnace performance, production metrics, and any issues encountered. Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

10. Coordination with Departments

• Collaborate with other departments such as Batch House, Quality Control, and Maintenance to ensure seamless production processes and resolve any interdepartmental issues.

11. Business Plan Achievement:

• Ensure the achievement of the business plan by maintaining a high monthly average of annealed glass production.

12. Customer Focus:

• Address customer complaints promptly and effectively to maintain high customer satisfaction.

13. Internal Audit Compliance:

• Address and resolve internal audit findings within 30 days of the audit report being shared.

14. 5S Implementation:

• Maintain a world-class shop floor area by implementing and sustaining 5S practices.

15. Glass Pull Increase:

• Increase the glass pull of all three furnaces to optimize production output.

16. Trim Loss Reduction:

• Reduce trim loss across all four lines by monitoring and improving the average monthly trim loss.

17. Input Cost Reduction:

• Enhance energy efficiency in the furnace to reduce input costs.

18. Yield Improvement:

• Improve the net yield of annealed glass across all four lines to enhance overall production efficiency.
