Job Description

Role Overview: As a Chemistry Lab Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to assist the chemistry teacher and students in creating a safe and organized environment for practical chemistry activities. You will play a crucial role in preparing the laboratory for experiments, managing chemicals and equipment, and ensuring that safety protocols are strictly followed. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and arrange laboratory equipment, chemicals, and specimens required for chemistry experiments and lessons. - Support the teacher during chemistry lab activities by assisting students with procedures, equipment usage, and answering related questions. - Ensure students adhere to proper safety procedures when handling chemicals and equipment, including the correct use of safety gear such as goggles, gloves, and lab coats. - Monitor and maintain stock levels of chemicals, glassware, and other lab supplies, notifying the teacher or school administration when reordering is necessary. - Store chemicals in compliance with safety regulations and ensure proper disposal following experiments. - Clean, inspect, and upkeep laboratory equipment like Bunsen burners, glassware, and microscopes, reporting any malfunctions to the teacher or maintenance staff. - Keep the lab clean, organized, and prepared for future lessons after each class or experiment, including washing glassware, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste materials. - Prepare necessary solutions, mixtures, or chemical reagents for experiments, ensuring availability before each class. - Assist students by explaining concepts and techniques during experiments, maintaining accuracy and adherence to instructions. - Maintain records of inventory, safety checks, and equipment maintenance. Qualifications Required: - B.SC or M.SC in Chemistry - Proficiency in using and maintaining chemistry lab equipment such as Bunsen burners, balances, and pipettes. - Strong attention to detail and understanding of chemical safety practices. - Ability to manage time efficiently, multitask, and troubleshoot equipment or experiment issues. - Friendly and approachable attitude towards assisting students and staff. Additional Details: - Previous experience or coursework in a laboratory setting is preferred. - Ability to work effectively in a school environment with students and staff. - Preferred 2-3 years of experience, but freshers can also apply.
