Role Purpose:

Roaster Section operations

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Process Control

• Overall responsibility for

  Roaster Section operations

  , including feed preparation, roasting, off-gas handling, waste heat boiler interface, and sulfur dioxide recovery.
• Ensure

  consistent calcine quality

  (sulfur %, Zn %, Fe %, moisture) meeting leaching plant requirements.
• Optimize

  roasting parameters

  : bed temperature, air flow, concentrate feed rate, oxygen enrichment, and pressure balance.
• Coordinate closely with

  Acid Plant, WHRB, and Leaching Sections

  for smooth plant operation.
• Lead start-up, shutdown, and emergency handling of roaster systems.
  

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

• Enforce strict adherence to

  Process Safety Management (PSM)

  , SOPs, and statutory safety norms.
• Drive

  zero-incident culture

  in high-temperature and SO-rich operating environment.
• Ensure compliance with

  environmental norms

  related to SO emissions, dust control, and solid waste handling.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
  

Performance & Optimization

• Monitor and improve

  key KPIs

  : Roaster availability, sulfur fixation efficiency, energy recovery, concentrate throughput, and fuel consumption.
• Identify and implement

  process improvement initiatives

  to enhance throughput and reduce operating costs.
• Lead troubleshooting of operational bottlenecks and equipment/process deviations.
  

People Management & Leadership

• Lead a multi-disciplinary team of

  Shift In-Charges, Control Room Operators (DCS), Engineers, and Supervisors

  .
• Develop team capability through training, skill upgradation, and succession planning.
  
• Ensure effective manpower planning, shift management, and performance appraisal.
  

Maintenance & Reliability Interface

• Coordinate with maintenance teams for

  preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance

  of roaster equipment.
• Participate in

  CAPEX / revamp / debottlenecking projects

  related to roaster and off-gas systems.
• Ensure spares planning and reliability improvement initiatives.
  

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure compliance with

  statutory, ISO, IMS, and internal audit requirements

  .
• Prepare and present

  daily, monthly, and annual performance reports

  to management.
• Support management during inspections by regulatory authorities.
