CFX Artist Cloth, Hair & Simulation Specialist

You will be joining Pepi Digital, a cutting-edge creative agency based in Chennai, as a CFX (Character FX) Artist. In this role, you will be utilizing your hands-on experience in cloth simulation, hair & fur dynamics, and real-time integration to bring characters to life through secondary motion and dynamic effects. Your primary responsibility will involve creating realistic cloth behavior, hair flow, accessories movement, and soft-body physics to enhance storytelling and visual appeal in both cinematic and commercial projects. Your key responsibilities will include: - Creating and simulating realistic cloth, hair, fur, and accessory dynamics using tools like Marvelous Designer, Maya nCloth, Houdini, and Unreal Engine. - Collaborating with modeling, rigging, and animation teams to ensure seamless FX performance on characters. - Handling dynamic simulations for various elements such as ethnic garments, flowing gowns, turbans, scarves, jewelry, and other secondary objects. - Working on projects of different styles, from stylized to photorealistic, while ensuring physical accuracy and visual beauty. - Simulating FX for animated IPs, cinematic brand videos, and immersive product showcase projects. - Optimizing simulations for both offline rendering and real-time playback in Unreal Engine. - Troubleshooting technical issues related to collisions, clipping, or performance to meet creative expectations. To be successful in this role, you should have: - 2+ years of professional experience as a CFX Artist in animation, film, or 3D production. - Proficiency in Marvelous Designer, Autodesk Maya, Houdini, and Unreal Engine. - A solid understanding of fabric behavior, physics simulation, and motion dynamics. - The ability to work with rigged characters and troubleshoot FX-related issues. - A strong demo reel showcasing diverse CFX simulations across clothing, hair, or accessories.
