Cath Lab Nurse

You will be responsible for assisting cardiologists and interventional radiologists during catheterization procedures, which may include angioplasties, stent placements, pacemaker insertions, and electrophysiology studies. Your duties will involve monitoring patients" vital signs and hemodynamic status before, during, and after procedures, as well as administering medications and contrast agents as prescribed. It will be essential to maintain sterile technique and uphold appropriate infection control practices throughout the procedures. Additionally, you will be expected to prepare and operate specialized equipment like EKG monitors, defibrillators, and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP). Patient care will be a key aspect of your role, encompassing tasks such as providing pre-procedure and post-procedure education and care instructions. Accurate documentation of nursing care, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record (EMR) will also be part of your responsibilities. In emergency situations, you will participate in Code Blue events, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care. Moreover, staying updated on current practices and emerging technologies in cardiac care will be essential. As for qualifications, you should be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, with a preference for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Possession of a current and unrestricted RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required. While not mandatory, CCRN or RCIS certification is preferred. Ideally, you will have a minimum of 1-2 years of critical care or emergency nursing experience, with previous exposure to a Cath Lab or interventional radiology setting being advantageous.
