State Street Global Technology Services (GTS) is seeking a motivated Business Technology Risk Advisor - Assistant Vice President (AVP) to support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of technology risk. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience in risk management, a keen interest in technology, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. This individual will assist in reviewing procedures, implementing improvements, and supporting the delivery of risk management initiatives.
Our technology division, Global Technology Services (GTS), is a key enabler for State Street, supporting our business with essential data and insights. As we drive digital transformation through technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and automation, we need professionals who are eager to learn and contribute to risk management and innovation. The First Line Risk and Control (FLRC) function partners with technology business lines and CIOs, acting as an independent advisor within the first line of defense. Reporting Line: The AVP will report to a Business Technology Risk Advisor at the Vice President (VP) or Managing Director (MD) level. Key Stakeholders: The AVP will support technology risk activities for assigned business lines or CIO functions, working closely with more senior risk advisors and technology leaders. Development Opportunity: This role offers mentorship and growth, with opportunities to learn from experienced risk professionals and contribute to impactful projects.
. Assist in the implementation of process enhancements aligned with business objectives
. Support projects aimed at risk reduction and process improvement. Help collect and analyze data for metrics and performance improvement. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment with risk management and control goals. Contribute to risk assessments and audits under the guidance of senior team members. Stay informed about emerging technology risks, including those related to generative AI and agentic AI
. Foundational knowledge of risk management principles
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to question critically, challenge assumptions, and not take answers at face value. Inquisitive nature with a desire to understand underlying issues. Effective verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced setting. Attention to detail and organizational skills. Interest in technology and its associated risks
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC):
. Basic understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, DevOps). Willingness to learn about risk management throughout the SDLCInfrastructure:. General awareness of network architecture and cloud platforms. Interest in learning about infrastructure security and performance risksOverall Technical Skills:. Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles. Familiarity with risk management tools is a plus. Ability to interpret technical data with guidanceEmerging Technology Risk:. Awareness of risks associated with generative AI (Gen AI) and agentic AI. Willingness to learn about industry trends and best practices for managing AI-related risks
. Exposure to RSA Archer or ServiceNow ITSM is a plus, but not required
. Familiarity with COBIT, NIST, or ITIL frameworks is beneficial but not required
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, IT Security, Risk Management, or a related discipline
. 12+ years of experience in risk management, technology, or a related field. Experience in a support or analyst role within a technology or risk function is an advantage
