Business Sys. Analysis Analyst

The senior level incumbent in this role will be responsible for handling large face amount cases and interacting with field personnel, as well as providing guidance to more junior underwriters. Your primary focus will involve accurately and promptly assessing and evaluating life applications, renewals, or cancellations in accordance with the Company's underwriting policies, guidelines, and relevant insurance laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities: - Underwrite and assess large face amount cases - Review and approve work of less experienced underwriters - Conduct underwriting audits when necessary - Participate in underwriting projects as assigned - Engage with field personnel through calls or visits - Contribute to fostering and sustaining strong relationships within the organization - Stay informed about evolving practices and regulations - Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to offer insights on departmental procedures or practices - Potentially mentor less experienced underwriters Requirements: - Bachelor's degree preferred - Over 10 years of experience in a production-focused environment - At least 3 years of direct life insurance experience is preferable - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Prior experience in brokerage or reinsurance is advantageous - Desired experience in investigating contestable claims - Thorough understanding of regulatory and policy discrepancies across states where business is conducted - Willingness to travel to the home office in Montpelier, VT as required (expected quarterly) - Successful completion of a background check This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in life insurance underwriting, a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
